Cape, model 124 from the magazine Burda 09 2011
YOU WILL NEED:
• felted loden 1.75 m wide 130 cm for all sizes;
• braid with fringe, fringe length approx. 10 cm: sizes 36, 38 - 2.00 m, sizes 40, 42 - 2.10 m, size 44 - 2.15 m;
• non-woven formband; • 1 decorative clasp;
• threads for sewing; • needle of the sewing machine No. 80;
• silk paper for transferring patterns from a sheet of patterns;
• pencil; • paper scissors; • tape measure;
• tailor's chalk; • tailor pins;
• cutting shears and small needlework scissors.
Pattern
... pink, so it is easy to find on the sheets of patterns. Put silk paper on a sheet of patterns and pin it. Translate the details of the pattern of your size along the corresponding contour lines and do not forget about the marking and inscriptions!
Cut out the details of the pattern, while making cuts on the shelves and place the details on the fabric as shown in the layout plan.
Extra tip: the size of the wrap is determined by the circumference of the chest (size 36 = 84 cm; size 38 = 88 cm; size 40 = 92 cm; size 42 = 96 cm; size 44 = 100 cm).
Layout plan
... shows how to arrange the details of a paper pattern on a double-folded fabric (front side inwards). Impose the paper pattern on the fabric, aligning the line of the middle of the back with the fold of the fabric. Pin the pattern. Make sure that the directional arrows of the shared thread are parallel to the edge of the fabric.There is no special pattern for the edging inlay; it is drawn directly on the fabric according to the specified sizes.
1 x shelf (1)
1 x backrest (2)
1 edging (a) 15 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, including allowances.
Cut
Mark the allowances around the pattern details: 1.5 cm at the seams and along the cuts; allowances at the bottom cuts (on the bottom hem) are not provided. Cut out the details. Using tailor's chalk on the top shelf, draw the cut lines. Chop the shelves, remove the paper pattern. Chipped shelves flip to the other side. Place the paper pattern on another shelf, pin and draw the cut lines. Remove the paper pattern.
Non-woven formband
Press the non-woven fabric bands along the neck and back sections of the neck (from the wrong side) and to the side sections of the shelves so that the non-woven chain seam lies 1.5 cm (the width of the allowances) from the edge of the allowances.
Edging
Iron one longitudinal section of each inlay for edging the cut to the wrong side to a width of 7 mm. Iron (a). Put the collar on. Stitch short sections at a distance of 5 mm (b). Fold the necklace again, lay it in an oval and iron ©.
Run cuts. Put each edging inlay on the slot, while part of the inlay 7 mm wide lies on the front side of the shelf. Take in the hem and sew on the edge (a). From the wrong side, cut the protruding sections of the inlay close to the stitches (b).
Side seams
Place the shelves on the back with the front side to the front side. Chip and grind side sections (with 1.5 cm seam allowances).At the beginning and at the end of the stitches, sew the stitches. Iron the seam allowances.
Neck and sides
Draw a line at a distance of 3 cm from the neck / side sections. Unscrew the neckline to the seamy side to the drawn line, pin and iron. Similarly iron sections of the sides. Allow sewing stocks to the edge.
Fringed braid
Paste the fringed tape from the front to the bottom edge of the cape. At the edges of the sides, unfasten the braid to the wrong side for a width of approx. 1 cm. Stitch the tape to the edge and at a distance of 7 mm. Sew a decorative clasp to the shelves manually.
