How to quickly and easily make a beautiful and vibrant canvas using an unusual patchwork technique from a bunch of small, unsuitable patches and scraps of fabric? The answer is in the video master class.
If after sewing you still have many small patches of fabrics of different colors, textures and shapes, do not rush to get rid of them. Even the smallest, but well-matching pieces of fabric can be turned into an interesting and unusual patchwork canvas. This technique is called the “pizza” patchwork, but from a rather time-consuming, requiring a certain accuracy and patience patchwork here - only the motley “collage” effect of the finished work. It’s quick and easy to learn the “pizza” patchwork method - and you don’t need to cut out the details and learn the sequence of creating patchwork blocks. The main thing in this method is improvisation and imagination, which allows you to nicely arrange the shreds on the basis so that they form a single picture (abstract or not - according to your desire).
The canvas turns out to be quite dense, thick and textured (to a large extent, its quality will depend on the thickness and texture of the shreds from which you will make it, and how thick a layer of scraps you will cover the base).The finished fabric can be used for sewing pillowcases to interior pillows, for blankets, bags, cosmetic bags, bedspreads and so on.
So you will need:
- shreds and scraps of fabrics of various colors, textures and shapes;
- transparent fabric (tulle, tulle, organza) - it will fix the "pizza" on top;
- doubler or adhesive non-woven - it will serve as the base material;
- "spider web";
- gauze or other thin cotton fabric for ironing;
- iron.
The technology of work is as follows:
- we lay out doublerin or non-woven on the working surface with the adhesive side up;
- we evenly place pieces of cloth on top - as we do with the filling in the manufacture of pizza, we need to cover the whole base with the “filling” of shreds without leaving “gaps”;
- add pieces of the "cobweb" - it will additionally fix the shreds;
- on top we cover everything with a transparent cloth;
- we cover the resulting “sandwich” with wet gauze and iron it properly, and then we go through the iron again without gauze so that the base glue and cobwebs glue well.
For greater strength, the resulting fabric is better to quilted.
