Lined products, especially cardigans and coats, require experience and knowledge. It is the complexity of such models that can cause fear among beginning tailors and those who have never sewed lined products.

Of course, each pattern has its own characteristics. But at the same time, there are general rules on how to properly sew the lining to a jacket or coat, which allow you to understand the principle of working with the lining.

The basics of sewing: how to tuck

✂ Lining details are cut out with allowances for seams and for hemming 1.5 cm wide bottom.

✂ All the seams must be made on the lining - all parts are sewn in the same sequence as the main product.

✂ The allowance for the hem of the bottom of the jacket or coat is ironed to the wrong side, until it is sewn.

✂ The hem allowance for the bottom of the jacket / coat is turned down again.

✂ The lining is pinned to the inner cuts of the seams and the neckline of the back of the back to the front side, combining the marked lines of the lower edges of the jacket / coat and the lining.

✂ Then grind the lining.

✂ Seam allowances are ironed onto the lining.

✂ The lining is put into the jacket / coat with the wrong side to the wrong side, the lining sleeves are put into the sleeves of the jacket / coat.

✂ The hem allowance for the bottom of the jacket / coat is again turned to the wrong side and sewn manually with unstretched stitches.

✂ Tuck the lining along the bottom edge of the jacket / coat and lightly iron it.

✂ The lower cut of the lining is pulled with a soft arc to the upper edge of the allowance for the hem of the bottom and pinned.

✂ The lining and lower sections of the seams are sewn to the hem hem manually.

✂ On the lining sleeves, lower sections are similarly tucked, slightly pulled up and sewn by hand to the upper edges of the allowances for the bottom hem of the jacket / coat sleeves.

✂ The excess lining fabric is turned down and slightly ironed.
