Stay home! And sew together with Burda Style in our patterns beautiful and comfortable home clothes. For starters, for example, loose pants without a belt. Easy, fast and without extra costs.
To really quickly sew trousers for the home, but still not lose in quality, you will need an overlock and a simple pattern.
How to work on overlock?
Overlock is mainly used for sewing knitwear, as well as for overcasting open sections and seam allowances. But at the same time, any overlock performs two functions at the same time - it grinds parts and skewers sections of allowances for seams, which is extremely convenient and saves time. This means that on the overlock you can sew the entire product and from ordinary fabric.
For these purposes, a four-thread sewing and sewn-in seam is ideal.
Recommended fabrics:
viscose and silk fabrics, linen.
Depending on the chosen fabric and the image as a whole, this pattern can be used to sew not only trousers for the home, but also summer and casual trousers.
Pattern of trousers and its features
For home trousers, I chose a simple pattern, model 104 fromBurda Style 2/2020:
- Special offer
- 1
- 2
- 3
- 4
✂ The model is quite free, so you can safely take a pattern one size smaller.
✂ The rear halves of the trousers are much wider than the front, resulting in the impression that the side seam "goes" to the front.
✂ The upper section of the trousers is almost at the waist, so I refused the stitched belt, because I like (and more comfortable) the lower fit of the trousers, especially if the model is loose, without a belt and fastener.
✂ But in the process of sewing, I lowered the line of the upper cut of the trousers another 3 cm.
✂ Refused all offered pockets.
✂ Trouser length at the side seam approx. 108 cm, which allowed not to increase it to my height (172 cm).
Quick-overlock pants
In this case, a sewing machine is only needed to make a drawstring for the elastic band and hem the bottom of the trousers.
Step 1
Remake the pattern on the tracing paper and cut it out.
Put the details of the paper pattern on the fabric, pin and cut with allowances at the cuts - 1 cm, along the lower edge of the trousers - 4 cm, along the upper cut of the trousers 1.5–2 cm (depending on the width of the elastic tape).
Step 2
Fold the front and rear parts with their faces facing each other.
Chip and make side seams.
Step 3
Chip and do the step seams.
Step 4
Turn one half of the trousers onto the front side.
Then insert it into the other half of the trousers with the sides facing each other.
Chop and grind the middle sections, aligning the step seams.
Step 5
Iron and then iron all seams.
Step 6
Work on the upper section of the trousers
and lower sections of the legs.
Iron.
Step 7
Unscrew the hem allowances on the seamy side, pin them with tailor pins (or iron them) and sew them up.
Iron.
Step 8
Unscrew the allowance for the upper cut of the trousers to the wrong side, bast and stitch, leaving a small hole not sewn.
Step 9
Push the elastic band into the open hole with a safety pin.
Lay the ends of the elastic tape on top of each other and sew together.
Sew open the hole manually.
