In the Renaissance, noble men also wore platform shoes. But not for long. In high society, this hobby quickly passed. It was time for balls, which required a completely different shoe ...

For a long time, the platform remained in oblivion. She returned to fashion only in the 20th century. At first she timidly and briefly appeared in France in the 1930s when Roger Vivier introduced the fashion to the world with shoes on a cork board uniform that he had borrowed from orthopedists. In the 40s, with the light hand of Elsa Schiaparelli, the "thick sole" became wildly popular. But then, in the 50s, she lost the decisive battle young to her rival - the hairpin just invented. And high-heeled shoes quickly began to gain popularity. But in the 70s, platform shoes fell in love with hippies: the "flower children" wanted to stand firmly on the ground, but towering above the world. Then came the beach clogs with lacing (the heirs of the Japanese gate) and new materials such as rubber alloy (called semolina).

Today, the platform is not only a recognized classic, but also a trend.Almost all the leading fashion houses include her in the collection. Designers provided platforms and evening shoes, and sneakers, and stocking boots.
Most often, the collections feature platforms made of wood and woven jute. Transparent platforms were invented, they are decorated with semiprecious stones, luminous elements and electronic sensors are built into them. For the decor of platforms use straps, bows, flowers, geometric prints, contrasting edging ... When several pads overlap, the heel soars up to 30 cm! This is today's fashion and at the moment is an absolute record for heights; while the shoes do not look bulky, and you can wear almost any clothes with them.
